WUSD welcomes Ryan England as WHS’ new varsity baseball coach

PRESS RELEASE

Windsor, Calif.—Windsor Unified School District (WUSD) is pleased to announce that Ryan England has been selected as the new varsity baseball coach at Windsor High School (WHS) for the 2024-25 school year.

England is a local, a former player for and graduate of Piner High School in 1994, whose passion for the game never waned.

“I was fortunate to continue playing for a few years after high school,” he said. “I was able to play for, alongside, and against, a number of good baseball people.  Looking back at it all, the real value is the relationships made in the game, from Little League until now. Those relationships are strong to this day.”

England’s coaching journey began with his own family. “Like most coaches, I started with my son in Little League 10-plus years ago,” he said. “I went on to co-create a brand of baseball we called ‘Hand-Picked Baseball Club’ that featured kids headed to all of the different high schools in the area (still playing as 18u now).”

England began his high school coaching career five years ago at Cardinal Newman High School. “Over the course of those five years I spent countless hours at several levels. In the end, we were rewarded with three straight section titles and the first CIF D2 Regional championship,” he said.

England has strong ties to WHS — his son is a 2023 graduate, and he has two daughters who currently attend — and he is excited about his opportunities here. “Becoming the new WHS coach is pretty surreal,” he said with a smile. “The interest in coaching at  WHS was simple — a chance to build a competitive program with some great kids/parents and the staff support to do so. I’m excited to be the guy to build a culture that fosters both developing and competing.”

“Ryan is going to help us bring our baseball program to the next level,” said WHS’ Athletic Director Jamie Williams. “We’re so pleased to have him as a part of our school community and can’t wait for the season to begin.”

“The goal is to make this the premier public place to play baseball along with bringing back the winning tradition at the Varsity level,” England concluded. “I'm looking forward to getting started and seeing where we can take this.”
