Meet Austin Matzaganian, Chief Business Officer

The Chief Business Officer (CBO) plays a critical role in overseeing the comprehensive business operations of the district. This leadership position is essential for ensuring the effective and efficient management of resources that support the district’s educational mission.

The Business Services department, led by the CBO, oversees all business operations of the district. Key areas of oversight include:

  • Fiscal Services: Responsible for Accounting, Budget, and Payroll functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, sound fiscal planning, and timely employee compensation.

  • Facilities & Construction Management: Oversees Bond Construction projects and ensures proper planning, development, and execution of capital improvement initiatives.

  • Maintenance & Operations: Ensures the upkeep, safety, and functionality of district facilities, supporting a conducive learning environment for students and staff.

  • Food Services: Manages the district’s nutrition program, ensuring that students have access to healthy and nutritious meals.

  • Technology: Supports the district’s technology infrastructure, ensuring that students, teachers, and staff have access to reliable and innovative digital resources.

  • Transportation: Oversees student transportation services, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely transport for students to and from school and related activities.

Business Services strives to support the educational program to the fullest extent. By managing resources effectively, the department plays a vital role in creating a safe, efficient, and resource-rich environment for learning and teaching.

 

In addition to serving as the Chief Business Officer, Austin Matzaganian fulfills several key roles at the county level, contributing his expertise to broader regional initiatives. These roles include:

  • Voting Member of the Sonoma County SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area): Collaborates with other educational leaders to ensure equitable and effective special education services throughout the county.

  • Voting Member of RESIG (Redwood Empire Schools Insurance Group): Participates in governance and decision-making related to insurance policies and risk management for schools in the region.

  • Chief Business Official for the North County Consortium (NCC) Program: Provides leadership and financial oversight for the NCC program, ensuring alignment with regional goals and the effective management of shared resources.
