What Is School Counseling?

School Counselors help all students in the areas of academic achievement, college and career planning, and social/emotional development, ensuring today's students become productive, well-adjusted adults. Part of this work is done by scheduling them into appropriate classes, academic advising, helping them learn to do their best in classes they struggle in, and college advising.

However, they can also help & guide students through their emotions, peer & family relationships. Childhood & adolescence can be a dynamic, turbulent and/or tender, fragile time. Having someone that meets you where you are, helps you to understand, cope with & manage the various feelings that come about during this time can be helpful. Personal & group counseling can be a strong support as conflicts and difficulties arise.
