School Gardens Providing our Students with Fresh Produce

Windsor Unified School District is proud to have school gardens at Windsor Middle School and Cali Calmecac Language Academy.  The school garden allows students to gain lifelong knowledge regarding growing produce, nutrition and eating fresh produce in the garden and in the school cafeteria for the salad bars.

Learning While They Grow!

The school gardens connect nutrition education and the classroom curriculum to enrich children of every age with hands-on life sciences, practical language skills, teamwork and campus ownership. Children plant, harvest and prepare seasonal foods. They experience plant life cycles first-hand as they plant, play among and then harvest the produce they grow.  They observe ecosystem interdependence and insect life cycles and discover beneficial insects in the garden.

Volunteer With Us!

Family Garden Work Days are fun times to make a difference for the whole school community, please contact your school to volunteer either in the garden or the classroom with Harvest of the Month nutrition education program.
