Good News: Change of Timing on Road Closure for 5/13/24; may still affect schools & buses

Posted Date: 5/09/24 (11:17 AM)

Dear WUSD Families:

We have been informed by PG&E that planned work for Monday, May 13 will have a shift in time from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. While the later morning start will likely be helpful for alleviating morning drop off challenges, afternoon pickup and bus routes may still be affected. The closure will encompass a section of Windsor River Road between Oak Park Street and Starr Road (essentially the section in front of Keiser Park) will be closed in both directions to upgrade portions of their electric system.

According to PG&E, “traffic controls will be in place, and all work areas will be clearly marked for your safety. Our crews will work to minimize disruptions and restore access to these roadways as soon as possible. Weather and other factors that affect safe working conditions may change our schedule.”

While we expect the most significant impacts will be on Windsor High School and Cali families, all families and staff members should be ready to take extra time getting to and from school on May 13. If your student rides a bus, our Transportation Department is currently looking at their routes and potential detours, and making plans as to what alterations may be needed. Individual families with students on affected buses will hear directly from Transportation closer to the day.

Families: If your student is tardy due to traffic and detour issues, kindly be sure to inform your site, as there will be some leeway on that day.

Staff: The workday is planned as normal, so be sure to plan ahead if you will be affected by these closures. If your impact will be significant, please reach out to your site administrator to discuss options.

If you have specific questions about the closure, please contact your Local PG&E Outreach Specialist at 707-615-2450. If you have questions about issues related to the school day or transportation, please reach out to your site administrator or the Transportation Department directly.
