Nursing services promote good physical and mental health as critical to a student’s ability to learn.

• Develop action plans for students   with medical conditions (i.e.,allergies, asthma, diabetes, seizures)
• Monitor immunization status, oral and physical examination requirements
• Input data on medical conditions in student file and commicate to district employees
• Screening students
– Vision: Grades K, 2, 5, 8
– Hearing: Grades K, 2, 5, 8, 10
– Scoliosis: Grades 7 (girls), 8 (boys)
• Training
– In-service for non-licensed employees who administer medication or provide first aid
– Universal precautions
– Health education topics: nutrition, medical emergencies
• Supervision of Health Assistants
• Employee Health – Tuberculosis Screening
• Ensure Public Health – infectious, contagious or communicable diseases


Nursing Services North County Consortium
• Preschool student home visits with School Psychologist and Special Education Teachers
• Attend Individual Education Meetings for students with medical needs
• Case management of students with significant medical needs
