Schools Will Be Opening Tomorrow

Hello Windsor Unified School District Families,

This is your District Superintendent, Brandon Krueger with important reminders and updates.

After a thorough assessment of safety, the improving air quality, and the ability to safely re-open schools, we have determined that the Windsor Unified School District schools will be opening, as anticipated, tomorrowWednesday, October 18th

All sites will follow their regular Wednesday bell schedule:   Elementary sites, Windsor Middle School, and Cali Calmecac Language Academy will be on their on their early release schedule.  Windsor High School will be on a late start, “B” Day schedule.

Extended Child Care and Boys and Girls Club will also be open to serve students in their programs.

Each school has been completely inspected and cleaned using Environmental Protection Agency standards for safety after a fire.

If you are concerned about changing air quality, you may choose to send your child with a face mask, which is one filtering method people are using. We will have a supply of back up masks to wear, but recommend the one your child has been using, if applicable.

While the air quality is improving, the Environmental Protection Agency reports that our Air Quality Index is currently at a “moderate level”, meaning that air quality is acceptable; however, for some pollutants, there may be a moderate health concern for a very small number of people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.  For everyone else, it is fine.

Please know that we will continue to monitor and make adjustments to limited outdoor time, as needed.

We are deeply committed to providing a high quality education for all students.  During times of crises, such as what we are experiencing now, we recognize the reassuring effect and value that normal daily routines could bring.

We also realize that a limited number of students/families and staff members are still dealing with the impacts of this terrible event (and continue to wish them safety and comfort as they heal and reset), yet look forward to greeting all students and staff who are able to return tomorrow.
